Scribbles of the Mind 12/21...almost Xmas
The Giants refuse to get younger and this will bite them viciously in the near future.....it reminds me of the impending correction in the Stock market - its gonna happen.
Yonder Alonso lands softly in a great spot in Cleveland. Good for him and good for Cleveland - Solid, not spectacular, career year last year, tailed off after he got traded mid-season ( he was an A of course ) however, he received a 2 yr 16 M deal from a perennial contender and he gets to play for Francona - all pluses.
The market for relievers is WAY overvalued - you might say that it's a relievers game these days and you would only be half right......these relievers they are shelling out for aren't nearly worth the $dough$ - this trend will fizzle out as teams realize there is plenty of untapped talent in their farm system that can do the job demanded of them these days....of course, until they get Tommy John'd :)
The Devil Rays ( yes, that is their given name ) now have 2 lovable Giants on their roster and both won't nearly realize their potential as much as they would have if they had stayed here by the Bay. Too bad really, good guys and instant fan favorites.
The Giant fans don't have to look at Denard Span's greying beard anymore...and that in itself makes this a worthwhile trade :) It's a bad look when you know a team is getting older.
All the local scribes are happy but the National ones and I know: this trade for Longoria was made to save face and keep the butts in the seats - they whiffed on the big boys, got told that they were not on the upswing, it hurt their pride, now they are scrambling to put on a decent show as they mortgage their future.
I feel for the Royals.....they are going to suck for quite awhile. Well, they got theirs ( 2015 Baby! )
The Warriors "Outsiders" Podcast on www.nbcsportsbayarea.com has to be the worst show I've seen in quite awhile - where the hell do they get these clowns???
At least " The Happy Hour " is getting better.....especially when Greg Papa is hosting - the man knows his Bay Area Sports...
That's enough outta Chooch for today - Buy those gifts and don't pay your taxes.....we know those guys in Washington don't :)
